Inaugural event of the Current Affairs alumni chapter
The chapter has emerged from conversations with alumni who remain deeply engaged with MBS and who are seeking opportunities for continued learning, intellectual stimulation, and connection with fellow graduates with shared interests and experiences. This new initiative recognises the interests and aspirations of those whose focus has shifted from career advancement to broader economic, social and global issues.
To launch the chapter, we are delighted to welcome Professor Ian Harper AO, a distinguished academic, former Dean of the School and one of Australia’s most influential economists, recently serving on the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
In conversation with MBS alumnus, Jon Hickman AM, Ian will share his views on what matters next for Australia, drawing on his experience in economics, public policy, regulation, productivity and business. The interview-style format will allow the discussion to range across the day's headlines and the deeper economic forces shaping Australia's future, while providing opportunities throughout for audience questions and participation.
