Pete Manasantivongs
Senior Fellow
Pete Manasantivongs is a Senior Fellow at MBS, where he has held a number of roles since 2012 including Academic Director of the MBusA program and Director of the Full-Time MBA program.
In addition to his administrative responsibilities on the Master of Business Analytics (MBusA) and Full-Time MBA programs, Pete has also held the position of Director of Global Engagement, where he managed relationships and international exchange programs with peer business schools around the world.
Subjects that he has taught in recent years include Data Analysis on the Executive MBA program; Business Case Study, Industry Practicum and Data Visualisation on the MBusA program; and Doing Business in Australia for visiting MBA students from exchange partner universities. Elsewhere within the University of Melbourne, he is the instructor for the "Scientists, Communication and the Workplace" subject for the Faculty of Science. He has also taught Decision Making for MBS Executive Education, as well as consulted on data projects for clients such as QBE Insurance and VicRoads.
Before joining the education sector, Pete was an Associate at Lexicon Branding, a consultancy based near San Francisco, where he directed linguistic risk analysis and international market research projects for clients such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Microsoft, Intel, eBay, Nokia, BlackBerry, Colgate, Nissan, Eli Lilly and Gap Inc.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, with a specialisation in probability and statistics, from Harvard University; a PhD in Linguistics, focusing on Romance syntax, from the University of Cambridge; an MBA and Master of Marketing from Melbourne Business School; and a Graduate Certificate in Sports Management from La Trobe University.
Pete served as Coach of the Australian national mixed doubles curling team from 2018 to 2022, including at the XXIV Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China, where they finished tenth. He also coached the Australian national women's team from 2019 to 2023, with their best result being sixth place at the 2022 Pan Continental Curling Championships in Calgary, Canada.
