QS ranks our Master of Business Analytics in global top five
In only its third year, Melbourne Business School’s Master of Business Analytics Program has been ranked No. 5 in the world in the first-ever QS World University’s Rankings of business analytics programs.
We are the only school from Asia, Australia and New Zealand to make the QS list of the world’s top 45 programs, making us QS’s top program in the region.
Ranked for thought-leadership, diversity, alumni outcomes, value for money and graduate employability of graduates, our program came first for diversity, third for thought-leadership, sixth for alumni outcomes and ninth for employability to claim the fifth-overall spot.
“With their exceptional acumen in technology, maths, and business, our MBusA graduates are shaking up the business world by transforming how businesses make decisions,” said Professor Ujwal Kayande, Director of our Centre for Business Analytics. “It’s wonderful to have QS validate our efforts.”
Melbourne Business School Dean Zeger Degraeve said the latest result adds to a growing list of accolades that several of our programs have received in 2017.
“It really has been a great year for our School with significant progress in all major global rankings, and it is a very humbling to now see QS rank both our MBusA and our MBA among the world’s best in its first-ever rankings of these programs.”
Announced concurrently with the MBusA result, QS also ranked our MBA as the 34th best in the world and No. 3 in Asia, Australia and New Zealand in its inaugural ranking of 232 global MBA programs.
Professor Kayande said the goal of the MBusA program is to produce tri-linguists – graduates who are fluent in technology, maths, and business and the program’s success has been helped by strong industry support, with top analytics and business leaders from across industry sectors among the Centre’s sponsors and Advisory Board members. First delivered in 2015, the highly selective program boasts students with degrees from top global universities, such as MIT and UC Berkeley, in its 2017 intake.
Graduates have secured jobs at leading Australian and global businesses, including NAB, ANZ, SEEK, AT Kearney, PwC, EYC3, KPMG, Quantium, Woolworths, Coles, Suncorp, Experian, Clemenger, BP Australia, and SAS.
Centre for Business Analytics partners include Suncorp, Coles, AT Kearney, NAB, EYC3, AGL, Telstra, Zetaris, Tanarra Capital, Liberty Financial, SEEK, BP Australia, Forethought Research, SAS, BCG, Quantium, Roy Morgan, Converge International, Brightstar and Westpac.
The program is a collaboration between Melbourne Business School and the Melbourne School of Engineering at the University of Melbourne, with several subjects taught by computer science professors.
Other faculty are leading experts in econometrics, operations research, text analytics, machine learning, computer science, marketing analytics, strategy, human resource management, finance, accounting, economics, operations management, and marketing.
