A new MBS initiative - a message from Clare Pullar, Director Advancement

May, 2008

Over the next two weeks, 2500 alumni will receive a call from current MBS students and recent graduates as part of our first-ever telephone campaign aimed at strengthening the connection between alumni and the School. It will also seek your involvement in our philanthropic programs.

The top tier international business schools are characterized by strong advocacy and philanthropic support from alumni, with typically between 50% and 70% giving back to their alma mater each year. Such gifts support students through scholarships, faculty through visiting fellowships, endowed chairs and research grants, and the continual improvement of the learning environment.

Melbourne Business School is inviting you, our alumni and friends, to help the School maintain its excellent reputation by ensuring the strength and currency of all its programs.

I know, through 20 years of raising money for educational institutions, that Australian alumni are every bit as generous as their American, Asian and European colleagues. The evidence is there: building a truly great School from a very good School can only happen through strong alumni participation.

So, we are asking you to become involved. If you receive a call from a student, please take the time to have a chat about your shared experiences even if you can’t become a donor at this time. We do hope, however, that you will support your School through making a gift.

We look forward to bringing you more news on the campaign in next month’s bulletin.
