Calibrating prognoses in the health
industry. This project concerns the statistical
comparison doctor’s prognostic predictions of successful outcomes for patients
with actual outcomes. We are interested in exploring various issues: (1) how to
adjust the prediction in the light of the data to give an unbiased estimate
that adjusts for optimism or pessimism, (2) the rate at which data collection
can realize potential gains of matching the correct doctors with the correct
patients, (3) possible perverse incentives that may arise when the population
of patients is heterogeneous.
