Faculty staff profile

Jim Frederickson joined the Melbourne Business School faculty in 2006.

His started his academic career at Indiana University and joined the faculty at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 1997.

At HKUST, Jim taught in several graduate degree programs in both Hong Kong and China, as well as in the undergraduate program.  Jim was one of the highest rated instructors in the MBA program at HKUST and won several teaching awards.  Jim has also held a visiting position at the University of Utah.   Prior to entering academia, Jim worked as an auditor in the Chicago office of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co (now KPMG).

Jim’s primary research interest is the effect of financial accounting disclosures on investor judgments and decisions, and his secondary interest is integrating economic and psychological perspectives for how accounting information affects individuals’ judgments and decisions.

Jim has published in the leading international academic accounting journals and has presented his research at numerous universities and conferences in North America, Asia and Australia.
