Jennifer George

Dean and Director, Melbourne Business School
Professor Jennifer George joined the Melbourne Business School in 1998 directly from PhD studies at Stanford University where she explored a problem in queuing theory of a queue with adjustable service rates.
Her research, teaching and consulting has continued to be in the application of complex models and quantitative techniques to business problems. Her teaching was recognised in 2002 with the award of a Universitas 21 Fellowship enabling her to spend time learning how to develop programs for and more effectively teach part-time students. Jennifer is interested in a wide range of intellectual issues and her attention has recently been focused particularly on the management of higher education.
Since 2001, Jennifer has been an integral part of the academic leadership of the Melbourne Business School, holding the posts of Associate Dean (Part-time Programs), Associate Dean (Students) and Associate Dean (Academic Programs), chairing the curriculum committee and participating in University wide reviews of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This culminated in her appointment as Acting Dean of the School in June 2009 and subsequent appointment as Dean and Director of the Melbourne Business School in October 2009.
