Susan Ellis

A highly experienced educator, researcher and consultant, Susan Ellis specialises in marketing strategy and services marketing.

At Melbourne Business School, Susan delivers marketing subjects on the MBA program in Melbourne and the Master of Marketing program in Beijing. She has held academic positions at the Australian Graduate School of Management, the Graduate School of Business at the University of Sydney, and the JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She has also been part of Kellogg's extended family, teaching for five weeks a year on their joint program with The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) at the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration (Chulalongkorn University) in Bangkok.

Her years of experience as an Asia Pacific educator have served her equally well in program administration. Formerly the MBA director at the University of Sydney, Susan is currently in charge of all Melbourne Business School activity in China, including the local staff.

Susan is a published author and has contributed to several books relating to marketing. A regular contributor to marketing journals, Susan also sits on the advisory board of the Australasian Journal of Market Research. She is a member of a number of professional marketing and strategy associations.

Susan consults to government and corporate clients in Australia, the US, Canada and the UK, including assignments for Telstra, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Reserve Bank, Qantas, Exxon, Goodyear, KFC and the US Navy. In addition, she spent some years at Coca-Cola where she held profit-and-loss responsibility for a $330 million dollar product category. Her experience spans five continents and includes a special assignment to the UK prime minister.

Since she moved to Australia in 1992, Susan has concentrated on highly competitive industries, including telecommunications, information technology, pharmaceuticals, fast moving consumer goods and advertising agencies. Her recent research has focused on business-to-business marketing and relationship management, both externally and internally.
