MBS Beijing Campus Students Graduate

Oct, 2009

After a gruelling 18-months of study, 23 students from eight different countries graduated with a Masters of Marketing degree in Beijing, China earlier this month.

The program comprises 13 subjects which are taught by nine faculty members who travel to China from MBS Carlton, on a fortnightly schedule that encompasses four full days (9 to 5:30pm) and three evening classes (6:30pm to 10pm).

The MBS Master of Marketing degree is the only Master of Marking program approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

Taught entirely in English, it is run in conjunction with Beihang University, a top tier university in China.

Graduating students have an average of eight years working experience and strong business and marketing backgrounds at multinational companies in diversified industry such as education and research, food and beverage, IT, automotive, financial services and business consulting.

The graduation ceremony, hosted by Professor Lester Johnson, MBS associate dean, was held in the conference centre of Beihang University.

Graduate representative Anthony McQuade described it as a journey of discovery and an opportunity to grow as an individual, a manager and a productive member of society.

He says, "From World of Management to Market Research and Product Management, as well as all the subjects in-between, this program has presented the challenge of reassessing positions and behaviour as a manger of people and business, as well as the interaction of business, products and the market."

According to Anthony, the most important aspect of being a manager is actually managing people and the impact this can have on teams and their development. He says, "I found the program and teamwork particularly valuable in this area."
