Helen Macpherson Smith Chair of Leadership for Social Impact

This new position requires a scholar with a record of research, teaching and leadership at the highest level, to lead the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership for Social Impact at Melbourne Business School. You will contribute to scholarship relating to social impact throughout the school.

Social impact can refer to the impact of nonprofit organisations, government and businesses on the community / society of which they are a part. The Centre is particularly interested in the impact of nonprofit organisations and especially in the approaches to leading, governing and managing these organisations that ensure the most effective realising of their mission. In this context we are also interested in models of leadership that enable nonprofits to initiate or effectively participate in collaborative projects with businesses and governments.

The new Centre seeks to be at the forefront of leadership and social impact policy in Australia, throughout the region and globally. The position will also be recognized as a Professor of the Centre for Social Impact (CSI- a collaboration between the Universities of New South Wales, University of Melbourne and Swinburne University of Technology).

We seek a scholar who has achieved the highest standards in their discipline and with a record of outstanding achievement in addressing leadership challenges in nonprofit organisations and across the three sectors through research, teaching and engagement. We are agnostic as to specific disciplinary background, and encourage applications from a broad spectrum of sectors.
