The Melbourne Business School at the University of Melbourne invites applications from outstanding scholars for the Ian Potter Chair of Finance. Applicants for this named full professorial position must have a distinguished record of research in finance and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the graduate and/or executive levels.

The Melbourne Business School is one of the Asia Pacific’s largest, and is jointly owned and led by corporate Australia and the University of Melbourne. It has vibrant MBA and executive education programs, which are consistently internationally ranked as among the finest in the region. Its degrees are awarded by the University of Melbourne, which is one of Australia’s leading universities, as well as one of its oldest. It also has extensive executive education programs through Mt Eliza Executive Education. There are approximately forty academic faculty members, many of whom have international research reputations and publish regularly in top tier international journals. Areas of current research strength include Accounting, Decision Sciences, Economics, Econometrics, Marketing, General Management, Organisational Behaviour and Strategy. The city of Melbourne has a population of over 4 million people, a temperate climate and is often touted as one of the world’s most liveable.

The successful candidate will have an established international reputation in finance, evidenced by publications in top tier international journals. Previous experience teaching in graduate programs is essential, and experience at a leading business school will be well regarded, as will the ability to foster links between the school and business community. Once appointed, the Ian Potter Chair of Finance will be expected to provide academic leadership in the area of finance, including in a number of additional faculty appointments.

Salary, terms and conditions are negotiable, but will be competitive with North American and other leading international business schools. The search will continue until the position is filled.
