Journey around leadership
|
Amanda Sinclair
Foundation Professor Management Diversity & Change Professor Amanda Sinclair provides commentary and critique of contemporary leadership thinking in the form of a narrative describing her own experience. She describes several destinations and the learning about leadership that has accompanied them as well as some hazards that have characterised both her own experience and that of the leaders and students with whom she works. By interweaving personal experience with leadership ideas and concepts, Professor Sinclair highlights the limitations of much leadership thinking (too often in her view, disembodied, de-gendered and de-sexualised.) She concludes with a discussion of the value of identity work in leadership as a way of opening ourselves up to growth, learning and value and effectiveness for others.
