Weekend Mode overview
The Weekend Mode program commences in January each year, with the deadline for applications closing 30 November the year prior. And just as in the traditional mode MBA, students can choose to complete either the twenty subject MBA over three years or the sixteen subject MBA for people with extensive work experience in just two years. Students are required to complete ten core subjects and either ten or six electives of their choice
There are three terms per year and each term is divided into three long weekend blocks (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) with a four-week break in-between. Normally student should expect to study two subjects concurrently each term, however for very able students there is an option to accelerate the program by taking an additional subject in evening mode, completing all ten core subjects in one year.
Electives
Electives are offered across a range of disciplines. Students have a choice of taking electives during evening, day or weekend class modes. Some electives are offered pre-term in intensive mode, designed to accommodate part-time student work, and enable students to further accelerate completion of their degree around existing commitments.
Classes are held at Melbourne Business School, and whilst this is not a residential course, for regional students and others, there is limited accommodation available at the school at special rates. Alternatively students can stay at a nearby hotel that offers discounted rates to Melbourne Business School students.
Since the subjects and course requirements are the same as the traditional MBA course, students are free to switch to another study mode at anytime should their circumstances change.
With Melbourne Business School’s Weekend Mode MBA, there’s now nothing holding you back from being your very best.

Testimonial
“I’m studying the MBA (Professional) in Weekend Mode because I sometimes travel during the week for work, and I have two small children. Weekend Mode gives me greater flexibility for managing my time. The weekend classes are smaller than the evening part-time classes, which leads to a better experience with more opportunity to contribute to the discussion. You need to be very disciplined about keeping up with the material and making sure you’re putting in the hours every week. The immersive, intense nature of each weekend of classes means our student group has bonded well, and I’ve made some great friends and contacts already.”
