Customs & quarantine

When you enter Australia you are subject to customs and quarantine regulations. This is needed to keep out disease and pests that might affect human, animal and plant health and life.

The Australian Customs Service ensures visitors entering Australia 's borders comply with customs laws. You will receive an immigration form on the plane which must be filled out and presented along with your passport on arrival. Declaring an item means your goods will be inspected and returned if they pass inspection – if in doubt, declare your goods. Please ensure you have your air ticket with evidence of your luggage. Customs officials will not allow you to bring in any foodstuffs or illegal goods. There are also restrictions on the amount of duty free items and currency you bring with you.
