Resilience
The mining and resources sector is a major growth industry in Australia, and is heavily male dominated. The process of generating a pipeline of qualified women into this industry is a long term process, and strategies to foster resilience for women already working in this industry is a crucial immediate step to address gender inequality during the lengthier period of cultural change in mining and resources organisations.
A meta-analytic review is currently underway to identify the predictors and consequences of women’s resilience in male-dominated or non-traditional work environments. Victor Sojo Monzon is leading this stream of research on the factors that predict and promote women’s resilience, and the effects of increasing resilience on retention and performance. This meta-analysis of the factors that impact on female resilience is an important element of generating empirically sound applied research projects in this area.
