This case focuses on Martha's Kitchen, a small restaurant owned and operated by two couples. It describes the situation in a small enterprise which was begun in enthusiasm but without any attempt at planning. After an initial stage of success and excitement, the business starts facing many problems which result from lack of control and organising. As well, problems in leadership emerge as personality differences escalate into major conflicts. The student is asked to take a management perspective and to recommend possible alternatives for action.
