Career and Industry Consultants

Our professionally trained career and industry consultants are available to help you with your career planning needs. This complimentary service provides you with assistance on job search techniques, resume writing, networking, positioning yourself for success and other career management strategies.

How can the Career Consultant help me?
If you are unsure about your career direction, you can clarify your focus with help from our Career Consultant. Our Career Consultant can help you to:

  • Think about your skills, development needs and your personal drivers for success
  • Identify short and long term goals and a strategy to achieve them

How can an Industry Consultant help me?

If you are certain about your career and work target you can meet with an Industry Consultant who specialises in your sector.

With knowledge of the jobs and recruitment processes of the areas in which they work, Industry Consultants in the career centre can assist you to:

  • refine your work target and company hit list
  • understand the job roles in a sector, the requirements for those positions and the recruitment process; and understand where and how to identify job opportunities
  • understand the value of your experience and skills and how to position this in the sector
  • advise you on effective job search strategies and sources
  • recommend alternatives you may not have considered, professional associations and industry sources
  • review your targeted resume for the sector
  • provide tips on interview and selection processes
  • have realistic expectations in terms of salary and role given your experience and qualifications, and the job market
