MBS Annual Fund 2011

Your gift, large or small, can create transformational value through:

The MBS Strategic Initiatives Fund

The MBS Strategic Initiatives Fund is an unrestricted fund which enables the Board and Management to allocate non-operational funds for strategic development. For example this might include additional demand-led scholarships or internships, or support for the student experience. Your gift will enable the School to maintain its competitive advantage by ensuring it is flexible and proactive in attracting outstanding academics and leading-edge research. This year we would like you to help MBS raise $125,000.

Student Internships

An internship can be an invaluable stepping-stone to a career, offering students a chance to apply their previous work experiences and acquired MBA knowledge within a 'live' working environment, and learn valuable on-the-job skills. The impact of not-for-profit internships can be considerable and transformational for both the student and participating organisation. Supporting these internships creates value chains from MBS into local communities and enables the School to develop new partnerships and expand its network.  This approach helps to expose the quality of MBS applied teaching methods, and builds the School's reputation.  An 8-week not-for-profit internship is valued at $15,000, with the host organisation contributing half ($7,500) of this total.  In 2011 we'd like your gifts to help create 10 internships for our students.  This means the School is aiming to raise $75,000 for internships this year. A History of MBS

The History of MBS is a project to catalogue the History of MBS in one, easy-to-read volume celebrating the School’s founding and charting its history through to the present day.  A Project Committe will be chaired by John Dahlsen, MBS Board Chair and Donor Member, and he will be assisted by ex-MBS staff member Phylis King, the Committee's Executive Officer, in briefing the professional writer Mary Sheehan.   This Project will take 18 months to complete and the School will launch and celebrate the book in 2012.  Your gift can help MBS to create a historical legacy for current and future generations. We'd like you to give and help raise the $120,000 that will realise this important project.

Student Clubs and Societies

Students at MBS run a number of clubs and societies which contribute significantly to the School by providing extracurricular support to assist students in developing their marketing, financne, consultancy, public-speaking, career preparation, and entrepreneurial skills.  Clubs like Melbourne Business School Entrepreneurship Club which runs the annual Melbourne University Entrepreneurship Challenge (MUEC), Net Impact (social entrepreneurship, enivironment and sustainability), Marketing, Finance and Consulting Clubs often collaborate to bring internationally renowned speakers to the School, and host conferences and events.

In addition, the School also boasts a Wine and Philosophy Club, a Photography Club, a Latin Club, and Music Club, all of which combine to add energy, fun and vibrancy to the School.  These clubs also play a large role in helping the School to attract new students, and add considerably to the School's value proposition.  Your gift can generate greater vibrancy and impact considerably upon the student experience.  We would like to raise $50,000 for the School's Student Clubs and Societies in 2011.
