1984 - 1986

Melbourne Business School

Mt. Eliza Executive Education

After being appointed director in 1984, John Rose leads the school for 17 years. During this time it becomes truly international, attracting students and faculty from around the world.

It leads the way with the first postgraduate program for fee-paying overseas students and introduces the Executive MBA program, the Master of Marketing and the Master of Management (Technology).

It changes to a three-term teaching year, grows the MBS net assets to over A$100m, raises money for expanded premises and incorporates the Graduate School of Management as a company, limited by guarantee, now 55% owned by donor members and 45% by the university.

In the meantime, the college replaces the eight-week Advanced Management Program with a six-week Advanced Course and moves toward closer co-operation with universities.
