A Sydney solicitor and company director, Remington is a man of vision with a desire to serve his community.

He is a foundation member of the Institute of Political Science, the Institute of Public Administration and the Public Library of New South Wales.

He is a member of the first executive committee and remained a member of the college council from 1957 to 1968, the year in which he died.
